What is well-being?

A sense of well-being is what we get when we are happy, content and comfortable. The mental health charity Mind says that wellbeing has five elements: connecting with others, keeping physically active, taking notice of how you feel, learning new things, and helping others. (source).

What is self-care?

Self care is the positive action we take to achieve well being.
We need to be proactive in this or life tends to take over and we allow caring for others, going to work, and similar demands on us to get in the way.

What is a well-being session?

Sometimes life just gets in the way and we need a boost. A stand-alone wellbeing session as part of your self-care can provide just that. In the same way you might go for a manicure or massage to promote physical well being, these sessions promote emotional wellbeing, and a sense of relaxation and calm.

There are a number of things that might be included. Here are some ideas, though if you have others, feel free to contact me and ask.

  • Relaxation – a personalised guided meditation session to help reduce stress, a kind of virtual holiday. Booked regularly, these sessions are ideal for ongoing self care and stress management.
  • A one-off motivation boost to get something done that you’ve been putting off.
  • Learning new coping strategies for tricky or challenging situations.
  • A lesson in mindfulness or self-hypnosis.
  • Improved focus for exams, presentations, interviews, and the like.

A standalone wellbeing session is not the same as therapy and will not resolve longstanding or serious issues*. But it can give you a lift, improve your mood and stress levels, and help you feel better.

These sessions can be a wonderful group or family activity. In particular, group relaxation can form a part of your hen night or birthday party, leaving everyone feeling relaxed and positive for the big day.

Please contact me to book your session in my office in Normanton, or online.

*If I feel therapy would be a better option for you, I’ll advise and give reasons.
